New Malden Velo

New Malden Velo, a club for road cyclists, est. 2014.

All abilities welcome! Love riding your bike? Think you could love riding it even more in like-minded company, but not sure you're "good enough" to join a club. Join us on an open invitation ride and see where it takes you. No commitment, no pressure, no competition, just riding for riding's sake. We think it's more fun that way, and that's why we created NEW MALDEN VELO. A club where we're all good enough.
We’re new and growing, and our intention is to provide multiple ability rides for all ages. However we cannot support rides for U18s yet. Keep an eye on our facebook and  websites for further news (see below).
We meet every 7am Sunday, on South Lane Parade New Malden (near the junction with Nelson Road), generally heading into the hills or towards Windsor.  We also run fun rides after dark in Richmond Park, for all ages.
Come and join us for a ride. If you enjoy your experience, which we are sure you will, and would like to join our growing club, please contact us at and we will register you with the club. We ask for a contribution to club costs which is usually £20 per year.
Further information can be found at our facebook page (it’s a closed group, so we’ll ‘friend’ you upon application) or website. Email also.

Become a cycling instructor

If you love cycling, you might consider becoming a cycling instructor. Whether you would like to make it a full-time job or you just want to pass on some skills at your local school or youth club, undertaking the National Standard Instructor training is the first step.

Kingston is the only London borough recognised as an instructor training organisation (ITO). Since 2007, we have trained more than 300 instructors for local authorities and independent providers.

You can read more about our training here, and learn more about being a Bikeability Instructor here

Get involved?

Cycling is a fantastic way to exercise, travel, and enjoy the great outdoors. Wind in the hair (under your helmet of course), sunglasses on, and a picnic in your bag. However, not everyone sees it this way.

Therefore, CycleKingston is appealing to you to share the good, the bad (and the ugly?!) We want to hear your cycling experiences, news and showcase success stories along the way too.

If you have material you think we should feature on the website, drop us an email on with the information and some images and we'll do our best to feature them.
