Chevaliers Cycle Club

Chevaliers Cycling Club is based in south west London. Regular rides take place each week ranging from social gatherings to serious training. Some of us race, some of us ride sportives and some of us just like a gentle twiddle followed by a natter over coffee and cake. For the more adventurous of us tours and foreign trips are arranged each year.

We welcome any road cyclists over the age of 16 and have no upper limit (currently our oldest member is 72). Whilst we are always happy to offer advice on equipment, technique and training, all prospective members must be able to ride road bikes competently.

  • Wednesdays: 6.30pm Kingston Bridge (Kingston Gate of Richmond Park in winter), 20-50 miles (dependent on weather and daylight) at social pace (c.17mph). Those in training break off for faster sections (c.23mph), and we reconvene in a pub.
  • Saturdays:  9.30am Kingston Bridge, 50-100 miles at fast pace. More of a serious training ride than a social one.
  • Sundays: 9.30am Kingston Bridge, 30-50 miles at a comfortable pace (c.17mph). A social ride involving plenty of chatting and a refreshment stop.

New riders are welcome to cycle with us for free as many times as they wish. We never pressure anyone to officially register as a member, it is entirely left to their discretion to inform us when they are ready to don the team kit. There is no annual membership fee.

We’re always delighted to welcome new members. If you are interested in joining or would like further information, please e-mail us at Alternatively just turn up on the day for any of our regular rides, we’re a relaxed club and no booking is necessary.

Become a cycling instructor

If you love cycling, you might consider becoming a cycling instructor. Whether you would like to make it a full-time job or you just want to pass on some skills at your local school or youth club, undertaking the National Standard Instructor training is the first step.

Kingston is the only London borough recognised as an instructor training organisation (ITO). Since 2007, we have trained more than 300 instructors for local authorities and independent providers.

You can read more about our training here, and learn more about being a Bikeability Instructor here

Get involved?

Cycling is a fantastic way to exercise, travel, and enjoy the great outdoors. Wind in the hair (under your helmet of course), sunglasses on, and a picnic in your bag. However, not everyone sees it this way.

Therefore, CycleKingston is appealing to you to share the good, the bad (and the ugly?!) We want to hear your cycling experiences, news and showcase success stories along the way too.

If you have material you think we should feature on the website, drop us an email on with the information and some images and we'll do our best to feature them.
