Interested in cycling? Tick. Found your local rides courtesy of our Calendar of Events? Tick. Found a bike? Tick (if not, have a look here!). The next question is, are you confident in your ability to ride the bike safely? If the answer to that is no, then Cycle skills is for you.
Kingston Council’s cycling team offers Cycle Skills sessions to adults and Bikeability training in most primary schools across the borough, plus instructor training courses and bike maintenance training.
ADULT CYCLE SKILLS
For many adults it has been a while since their cycling proficiency, if indeed they ever took part in one. Adult Cycle skills covers all skillsets, from absolute beginners right through to those who just need to brush up their skills. So whether you are refreshing your skills or starting from scratch, we would recommend a session or two. More booking details here.
JUNIOR BIKEABILITY
Bikeability is the 21st Century 'cycling proficiency' and is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to ride a bike safely and confidently on 21st Century roads. You can read all about it on the Bikeability website.
Bikeability is the only cycle training which is nationally recognised and government approved. It is the flagship cycle training programme of Cycling England. For children attending junior school, group training takes place in almost every school in the borough during year 5 or year 6, and individually tailored one-to-one training can be arranged for children of almost any age.
